Due to the ever increasing demand for our services, we have a continuous need for Healthcare Assistants of all ages to join us in providing high quality health and social care. As a healthcare Assistant your role will play a vital part in the care sector. The role of a health care assistant is to provide care and support in a dignified way whilst promoting independence, enabling people to live their lives in the comfort of their own homes. We operate small local teams from three regional offices in Helston, Roche and Liskeard.

We provide care throughout Cornwall and have teams of health care assistants throughout the county. Travel time is kept to a minimum and our healthcare assistants are recruited for the teams local to their homes. Our local teams make a real difference to supporting people in the community. At Penhellis we believe that good training is vital. There is no need for previous experience as we can provide you with all the mandatory training you need and any additional training you want to complete. We run a 5-day care certificate course which is classroom based and followed by a minimum of 2 weeks shadow training. Plus a mandatory NCFE level 2 certificate in the safe handling of medication. Our training is provided in partnership with South West Skills Academy and Cornwall College.
South West Skills Academy provide us with the ability to offer our staff the option to do a level 2 diploma in health and social care with the option to continue to a level 3.
There are ongoing training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in selected subjects with nationally recognised Level 2 qualifications with various topics, these include:
- Understanding Autism,
- End of Life, Dementia,
- Infection Control,
- Mental Health,
- Child Mental Health
